Allow me to Introduce myself...

Greetings,

My name is Melissa Brown Jordan. I am from North Mobile and I am currently residing in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I am the youngest of three, an older sister and older brother. I graduated from Troy University in December 2005. Since then, I have taught school in Escambia County. My first year, I taught ninth grade English and my second year I taught seventh and eighth grade English. It was quite the experience! I am married to a childhood friend and we have a lovely dog, Parker Ross Jordan.  At the present time, I am pursuing my Master's degree in English Education. It is my aspiration to teach college.

I love technology! I don't know what I might do without email and texting. I love all kinds of different gadgets and it doesn't take me long to figure out how to use something new. I have an IPhone 4 and my favorite thing is to use Facetime to talk to my niece with her IPod touch. In the classroom, I like to use the Elmo projector. It is one of the best things that one person could have thought of. It is so versatile. One of the ways that I use it is for chapter pretest and post test. You can use the tests straight out of the book and project it onto the board. Students volunteer to answer the questions and I use colored markers for them to circle/write their answers. We even turn this into a game! I also like the smart board.

  1. Hi Melissa! I would love to teach college as well (after many more years of experience). I love technology as well. The iPhone and facetime is incredible! My husband and I use it to talk to long distance relatives.
I also LOVE my Elmo projector!! I don't know what I'd do without it. That- and the Smart Board are huge lifesavers keeping students interacting with the lesson-- especially 3rd graders!! :)

Looking forward to working with you in class! :)

  2. Hi Melissa, so glad you are with us this term. I too love my iPhone and don't know how I ever survived without it before. My favorite App is the map app. I know that is dorky, but I just love that the iPhone 4 has a real GPS. I can type in anything and it will usually find it.
